The Interview
Wendi is a business colleague of a friend of mine from Austin who was visiting Los Angeles, and we all had lunch. Later, she emailed me saying she’d had an epiphany that helped her get through cancer. It happened that our phone interview took place on her birthday. After we spoke, she was heading to her sister’s for a family party, and she told me that her whole family only got together like this for her birthday—it was a reminder that she was still here to celebrate.
